I have a 2010 LTX 1045 and it's been absolutely trouble free.
I do maintain it properly, and I don't use it for things that it's not meant to do.
IF I had to replace it today, I would get the LTX 1042 KW instead of the 1046 KW. That's because the 1042 has a MANUAL engaged PTO instead of the electric one on the 1046. Replacing a failed electric PTO clutch costs more $$ than I'm willing to put up with.
When MTD decided that they wanted to compete with Deere in the low end lawn tractor market, they chose the CC 1000 series as their 'weapon', and they did a good job of doing so.
In that market the CCs are a better mower and a better value than the low end Deere.
Just be sure to go with one of the KW models which are dealer only.
