Near new Huskee with Kohler 19 hp twin cam single cylinder sat for a year in dry garage. Drained gas tank, gave it fresh gas, won't start. Put a little gas in air cleaner throat and it will run about 4 seconds, Did this about ten times, run four seconds and quits quick. Any ideas?

Probably a stuck float. Ease the bowl off the carb spray the bottom side of the carb and inside the bowl with carb cleaner, make sure the float and needle move freely.

If it has a rubber tipped needle in the float valve I've had that stick before after it hadn't been used for a while.

There is a fuel solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor. hold a finger on it. Have a friend sit in the seat, push the clutch/brake and turn the key to ON. Can you feel it click?

If not, its stuck and they usually stick closed. this is a common problem on that engine when allowed to sit with old gas in it. Old fuel deposits cause them to stick. I recommend replacement, as if you free it up it will usually stick again pretty soon.
