My FIL just got one. It took a little while to get it going as it did not run last year and sat outside all the time. It has a 5 speed transmission. I ran it a little here at home to make sure it will do the job. How is the transmission supposed to operate. I used the clutch to get it going and then bumped the shift lever to go up and down. Is this the correct method, or are you supposed to clutch it every shift. It runs too good to shuck out the transmission by not operating it correctly. Thanks, Roy

NOOOO! Feather the clutch and shift and then let the pedal back up. This allows the tranny to unload so no power is appled. On the flat they are pretty easy to shift. BUT in other words. Do not shift with power applied. The gearing is pretty close so you THINK it is shifting smoothly. Don't rip up a good little tranny. My 160 has many many hours and still works just dandy.
