Are you sure it wasn't because the fuel lines on a cheap chainsaw were 30 years old?

30 years ago Poulan made a good saw. Some of their models were carry-overs from the Pioneer line. Had a saw that was half Pioneer farmsaw and half Poulan.

Never had a problem until gas contained alcohol. Dealers now tell you to drain the tank after being used. It ruins the neophrene parts in the carburetor. What makes you think it was cheap. Sears doesn't give anything away. It still cuts good. Hal

Also, Poulan saws 30 years ago were better than they are now.

Hal is right. The Sears chain saws built by Poulan were some of the best little saws ever! Fuel lines were never really a problem. I wore two of them slap out, have one now and enough parts to build another, and most of the repair parts are NLA.
