2166 cub axle seal replacement

My father has a 2166 Cub that has a hydro leak on the axle seal. The axle has the hub welded on the end of the axle so I cant just pull the seal but need to pull the axle to replace. Is it as simple as pulling a snap ring then pulling the axle. Ive looked for manuals but no luck.

I never worked on a 2166, but other models use a "C" clip on the axle.....pretty easy.

Ray thanks for the quick response looking at the parts diagram it shows a big c clip on the outside of the housing, I think all I need to do is pull the clip and slide hammer the axle out, then replace the bearing and seal. is that right

No, remove the drawbar and differential housing rear cover and access the "C" clip on the axle shaft inner end, then pull the axle out. Then again, I'm not positive about the 2166....
