I have a JD 400 that was running fine until I tried to start it yesterday after it set for few days. The engine started but wouldn't smooth out buy manipulating the throttle and choke, It stopped and I tried to restart. The started sounded like it was grinding and didn't seem to really turning over the engine. Next try nothing. Next try more grinding but it seemed like the engine or something was causing resistance or stuck. How can I determine what happened. Apparently,to even assess the starter the engine must the un-bolted from the frame and raised.
Really dread having to go to JD Dealer without taking out a bank loan.
