3235 Cub Cadet governor

Governor shaft is stuck wide open on the Kohler command 23. Are the weights stuck/broke? How does one get into them?

First thing click on link below & download a service/repair manual for your eng,after that check for obvious external problems on gov/carb setup before trying of get inside eng.Check for disconnected/broken gov spring,gov arm loose on gov shaft,possible sticking/binding problem in carb throttle plate/throttle shaft.If it is necessary to get to gov inside eng disassembly-reassembly of eng covered in service/repair manual.

Joe, Thanks for the quick reply. Really certain it's inside engine. Engine starts and been lucky I caught it with the choke before it destroys itself. Looks like complete teardown in manual. Never done it before.

It's not that bad of a job, not a complete
teardown, just pull the lower cover.

If the plastic gear is broken, be sure to account
for all the pieces so they don't run through the
gears and break the new one!
