it lokes like maybe a Gilson.

Its a Gilson, probably made for Montgomery Ward.
I have one that is the same make up, only in a lot better shape

It is approximately a '76/77 model, since it still has a single cylinder Briggs 16. Later models went to twin cylinder. The engine number would tell for sure. They were only built till about '80 or so as Wards models, they got much cheaper built after that for the Wards models. That hood is specific to Wards, Gilsons used a different hood. Yours should have a cream hood, fenders, and running boards with a tan frame if it has a gear trans. If it is hydro, the frame color changes to blue.

Thanks....I think you helped nail this down.....there is blue paint underneath the red......and a hydro !
