Husquvarna K760 Gas Cutoff Saw Compression

I don't know if theres an "official" number but 180 or so is about as high as I've ever seen and anything under 100-120 usually is going to have problems. Sometimes you'll get one under 100 lbs that runs good, but not as often as those in the 140 range.

I usually think of 130 to 150 as good compression. The saw will probably perform for a while at 120 but will be hard to start when hot because the compression will be even lower then.

when I see 180 or above for a compression reading I look for restricted or clogged exhaust.

Another thing is to look for scoring in the cylinder wall above the exhaust port. I am pretty sure you can see that using a light through the spark plug hole. If you see much scoring at all, it has either eaten a lot of dust or the fuel mix got way too lean.

And of course you check compression with the compression release closed. With that big an engine you usually have to have someone help you hold it down.
