 Does anyone know anything about Jolly Hoe rototillers. I picked one up recently and am completely rebuilding it. It is very unique and I can find virtually no information about it.
It has a cast iron tine shroud, engine mount and transmission. It is driven by a very old Clinton engine with a centrifugal clutch on the driveshaft. The tine shaft is driven by a V-belt from the centrifugal clutch through a worm-gear.
The tines are individual and have a hex hole that fits over the hex-shaped tine shaft. They can be installed to cut a 10", 16" or 21" swath.
The cast iron parts were cast by Pacific Machinery Co. in Portland OR. That company no longer exists and I can find no history on it.
The only information I have found so far is a 1953 magazine ad from C. Raymon Company in San Francisco. They sold the machine at that time for $169.50.
It is very cool and I am curious what it will be worth when I finish with it. Not that I necessarily will want to sell it.
