I have a 318 that I am having charging issues with. I have researched the stator and voltage regulator on the internet. What I have is with engine running I have 39 volts AC on stator leads. Also when I check each stator lead to ground with engine off it shows a solid ground on both. How can the leads be grounded and still put out good AC. I thought I had voltage regulator problems and have purchased 2 new elcheapo ones and a used OEM one off of ebay. When I received all 3 of these I checked for continuity before installing them. All three have continuity between the DC spade and the right AC spade on the regulator laying on work bench. Is this normal? Is my stator bad since it shows both leads grounded even though it puts out AC voltage.
