The ground speed on my mower is slower than I like. It is about 8 yrs old. If I use the pedal to reverse than move forward it is faster for a little while. Any suggestions on what causes this. Thanks

What is the model number?

If it is hydrostatic, the fluid might be low. Or, the hydro pump is wearing out(I want to doubt this).

If the belts have never been changed, it is possible the drive belt for the pump is slipping.

One other item to check is the linkage assembly that shifts trans from forward to reverse. Check all pivots from the pedal to the transmission. If there is slop(wallowed out holes, even a 1/8" slop will make a huge difference), that will decrease speed. I had this issue with my 0 turn. Replaced all the ball joints and the speed is much better. I am so glad I didn't have to replace a drive pump..

I think the Cub Cadets are built for longevity and reliability so linkage parts should be readily available online and on Ebay.
