cub cadet hydrostatic question

I have a 1974 Cub Cadet model 129. The tractor runs beautifully. And drives beautifully. But I have one issue that I want to know if It can be corrected. That issue is, when I push the lever forward to move the tractor faster and the tractor is at the set speed everything is fine... However, the tractor seems to move the lever itself into the fastest possible position going forward. It"s done this many times. I have tightened the friction nut on the shaft to try to prevent this but the transmission still lunges forward to the fastest possible position any suggestions

Sounds like the, damper springs, on the side of transmission need changing.
Some people call them swash-plate springs

I have a cadet 1330 that is an MTD and it does just the opposet! I need to tighten the drag nut a little this spring.

There is a website called ihcubcadet.com. Lots of discussion has been done there about that issue. There are also detailed instructions in how to fix the issue. Good site with many very knowledgeable cub cadet folks

Thanks for posting this. I just bought a nice 147 that has sat for years. Got it running on the truck, unloaded it and ran it down the street. On the way back it started speeding up. Never would have known what was wrong without this, never had a hydro Cub.
