The tractor was running fine, just using oil.

I did a ring and valve job and when I fired it up it ran like singer sewing machine. After running for about 2-minutes, it died. You can let it sit for a few minutes it will fire up and run great for a minute or two and will die again. I have overhauled the carburetor and set the timing with a timing light.
Could the problem be in the condenser or coil? I had a Ford 8N that had the same problem. I changed out the coil and condenser and fixed the problem.
Thanks, JB 9959

When the engine quits pull off the plug wire and look for fire to your sparkplug. Hold the wire about a 1/4" away from plug. If you have good fire to your plug you probably have a fuel problem
and I would pull off the fuel line at the carburetor to see if there's a full stream of gas from the tank. If that's look ok the carburetor probably needs a good cleaning. Hal

Try running it with the fuel cap off. Sometimes the vent will plug, causing a fuel restriction.

Thanks for all the help.

I rechecked the carburetor float, made adjustments as per manual etc; all was fine.

I checked the gasoline flow to the Carburetor and was only getting a trickle. I removed the bowl and it was filled with a kind of slime. I cleaned it and blew out the fuel line. Put it back together and the tractor runs great. I only had to make a small adjustment to the main carburetor screw.

Thanks again.
