Got REALLY lucky today!

I worked my 318 DEERE with the B43 Onan pretty hard today for nearly three hours, blowing snow.

I was short of time, so I didn"t drain out the 5-30 Mobil 1 synthetic oil and replace it with dino oil.

I just took a chance and ran it.

LUCKILY, it didn"t blow up, use, or leak an appreciable amount of oil! ;-0

While it is true that synthetic was bad about leaking years ago,the formulas have been changed enough it is not a problem anymore.(most of the time)

No one should be taking this thread seriously because this is just Bob's childish way of trying to take a shot at me as a result of the thread below about 5W40 Synthetic oil.

According to Bob, using synthetic can cause bent pushrods so with that in mind, it is highly unlikely that Bob ever had any intention of dumping out his synthetic and installing dino oil.

If anything... the Moderator's should just ZAP this thread and give it the cyber-burial it so justly deserves.

Tom, don't be a PLICK and twist my words 180º! Call me "out" if you want, but don't twist what I wrote completely around!

You know &*#^ well what I posted was just the opposite, that using syn oil in modern OHV aircooled engines PREVENTS sticking valves and bent pushrods.

YOU are the childish one here, for being unable to admit technology/quality of oil moves on and what was "good" 40 years ago has long been surpassed!

Tom, I have been here a LLLOONG time, since way before this site required registration, and lots of folks have come and gone (as I do from time to time) but I have seen very few (none) folks as conceited and arrogant as you.

(And, yes, my original post was a "dig" at you, which you richly deserved!)

Of course I twisted what you wrote 180 degrees, silly man.

I did so because your allegation about oil causing push rods to
bend is ludicrous either way.

You make it sound as though synthetic oil is a modern invention
when in fact, it was the Germans who came up with it out of
necessity during WW II when they were unable to get the amount
of crude needed to keep their war machine moving.

If you actually took the time to read the entire thread, then you
would have found out a few things.

I never said anything negative about synthetic oil, In fact, I
defended it.

All I did was to point out that all of the American engine
manufactures call for straight 30W to be used in their old
technology engines and as of this date, that advice has not been
altered in spite of the new technology applied to oils.

Secondly, straight 30 weight oil made today utilizes all of the
new technology available. It is certainly not the formulation used
back in the 50s, 60's or 70's. You do not need to use a
multigrade or a synthetic to have a high quality oil.

To suggest that using straight 30 weight does not provide the
user with the very best in oil is just as ludicrous as suggesting
that mineral based oils can make a pushrod bend.

If passing on accurate information instead of urban myth makes
me conceited and arrogant, then that is OK with me. I'd much
rather have those words used then be wrong.

Instead of attempting to take a dig at me, why don't you go and
find some irrefutable information that proves I am incorrect. Of
course, that would take some effort on your part, wouldn't it?

BOYS!!! BOYS!!! ENOUGH!!!

It is about time that you two start acting like GROWN MEN rather than second graders in a pi$$ing contest!!!

Bob, you have raised some good points, but you have not backed them up very well.

Tom, especially you, knock it off!!
I have been reading back all the way to the beginning of what has not been rolled off the edge of these forums. While in the beginning, I found some of your posts to be arrogant, opinionated, and sometimes even hostile, I have also realized that you have done your homework and back up what you say with references. I also see that you are very knowledgeable and quick to help out those less informed than youself.

To both of you: your posts are in general a benefit to the YT site. But the bickering must stop.

I suspect that this will soon get {{{poofed}}} but I spoke my piece.
