Valvoline complete fuel system cleaner use in a 1989 WH 520H

Since my purchase of a 1989 1st generation Wheel Horse 520H with 923 hours on hour meter, I wondered if it would be OK to add the above in the gas to clean up the Onan engine. Is there a better suggestion out there in regards to internal engine deposit cleaning or is it just BS. The Valvoline product is made of synthetic materials and contains no alcohol per their MDSD sheet. Any input or suggestions will be appreciated.

I use ATF in gas to clean engines up and free things up. 1 quart to 3 or so gal of gas. Frees up rings and cleans out carbon etc.

I have used Sea Foam. My BIL pulled one of his Allis Chalmers garden tractors out that had been stored for several years. He put a snow blower on it and couldn't get it to run right and was about to rebuild carb. but instead mixed up a can of gas with Sea-Foam add to it. He ran it for maybe 1/2 hour and it straighten out and has run great since then.

Commercial automotive grade fuel system cleaners are too strong for small engines, the mix ratio is too high. Those bottles are usually made to mix with 12-20 gallons of gasoline. In a small engine tank you would only need to add a few drops. I stick to Sta-bil, Marvel, or Seafoam.

Mechanic in a Bottle fixes deposits in the fuel system. I have had great results with it. A sister product is Ethanol Shield to be used in all small engines in an ongoing manner. Available at Tractor Supply.

If your talking about those 6 or 12 oz. bottles of carb./injector cleaner you put in a car I've used maybe a spoon full in the 2 &1/2 gal tank a couple times a year. That stuff is made to treat 15 or 20 gal. and I'd be afraid of melting the fuel pump diaphragm with anymore of it

Thanks to all who replied. After further evaluation with the above advice, I investigated Seafoam info and it stated you could add 1 Oz. to each gallon of gas for this purpose. I don't know why I didn't think of Seafoam before I posted this. I think that's the route I will take since I have had excellent results with Seafoam in my auto and truck. Thanks again to all who responded.
