I'm working over a cc model 109 for a winter project. Looking ahead to spring what is the paint for these old models? In looking at photos of 109s I see some with black engines,starter/generators and air filters and others are yellow. Which is correct? Maybe it is the choice of the restorer or did they come from the factory either way?

My 108 that is the next model series up from you is ALL yellow. The hood on mine is cream and so are the wheels and gas tank. Mine is ALL original and it was garage kept so there is no guessing. Everything on the engine is yellow cause when the tractor is on the factory assembly line they hose down everything with a spray gun. Now the starter motor will have black paint under the yellow form Delco but your choice. Head lites on the back are clean but you will find many times the wire harness is painted. Up at the farm I have a 107 and I think everything under that hood is yellow too. After your cub is a few years old the hood and wheels go to white. The cream fades. That's it jeffcat

They were all yellow when they left the factory. The black generator/starter was a replacement. Some complete engines were replaced with black Kohlers.

Agreed. Black parts were replacement parts.
