I have a craftsman snowblower 24 inch with the Tecumseh motor 8hp, I need to know where I could from a worm gear or maybe its called an axel gear because the blades have stopped spinning. im not sure exactly what kind of gear I need can anyone help me and find me the cheapest price

Might want to check your shear pins first, there special bolts that pin the augers to the shaft that comes out of the worm gear. They're designed to break instead of more expensive stuff like worm gears or shafts.

If this is a two stage snow thrower,as wisebaker said check shear bolts on each auger,if bolts intact goto link below & lookup your model# blower in model search, see if any assembly drawings/parts shown for gear reducer/auger drive,if your blower same/similar to mine there is a shaft key that connects belt pulley/chain sprocket to input shaft of gear reducer, this key may be sheared & pulley/sprocket may be spinning on input shaft, also due to fact you didn't say weather it's the auger blades that weren't spinning or the impeller blades(impeller throws snow out of chute)the impeller has a shaft key on it also to connect to reducer shaft & key may be sheared, over the yrs I have replaced input shaft key & impeller shaft key due to picking up stones, tree limbs & hitting curbs.

ALSO DO NOT use regular 3/16 bolts!!! You must use the correct shear pins. Very bad things will happen the next time you hit something.

Yes if you use regular bolts you break parts like gears and shafts or if your really lucky housings. As the other poster said Sears has a good online parts web order service. I've also had luck at a local small engine business that could get parts using Sears numbers, they said MTD or AMF or Murray on them. If you're really computer literate you can decode your Craftsman model number into who made it and look on line (E-bay, Craig's list) for parts units. I'm currently running an Ariens snowblower the previous owner killed the motor on, bought it and an online bargain snow blower motor, it's been good for 9 years, might have to change the spark plug this year.
