Anyone with experience with a Deere Z425 ?

Son just bought his first house. Negotiation with
previous owner, and a generous amount of cash, and
she left a Z425, 230 hours, looks like new. Think it
has a 48" deck. Anyone with experience with one of
these? What do we need to know? Any quirks to look
out for? We have a Woods 625, but it's a whole
different beastie.

I'm pleased with mine.

I let the Briggs engine idle to cool down ~ 5 mins. before shutting it off.

The plastic bushings in the steering sticks' forward & reverse pivots will fail if you swing them in or out too aggressively. Simple repair.

If it's about three years old or more, its got separate pumps & motors. My 2010 was the last of these.

Here"s the manual if you need it.

Thanks, Tech - Have already book marked that. Donno if the manual came with it. There was a package of materials, but we"ll have to see what is in it when I get back down there. Son only took it for a trial ride, so we"ll be having a steep learning curve for a while.

We acquired a Woods 6250 this summer, from wife"s dad"s estate. That"s an impressive unit - 3 cyl diesel, 61" deck... But it"s a 4 wheel chassis, and deck rides in front with own suspension. A whole different unit than the Deere. And yes, you can get into trouble real fast with it, if you"re not careful too!
