Briggs 5.5 hp Intek Carb. Problem - Please Help

I have a Titan Industrial pressure washer that hasn"t ran in about 6 years but the fuel was turned off before storing. I dumped old gas out, washed it off, air blowed dry, and put new gas in and she fired right up and ran good for about 3-4 minutes until I started using the pressure gun. Immediately died and would not start back up like it was not getting fuel. I sprayed a little carb cleaner in the intake to confirm it would then sputter then die. Today I decided to remove the carb to see what the prob. was. I noticed that it looked like water came out of the bowl, so I removed and thouroughly cleaned carb. with spray cleaner and copper wire. I also blew back through the fuel line with air to make sure I had good flow. I filled the tank last night with gas that is a week old in my lawnmower can and it looked as if pure gas is running out of the tank. Put everything back on and the engine starts right up 1st pull on choke and will run for about 3 seconds and die on choke. It will not run or start on any other setting. If I keep feeding carburetor cleaner to intake, it will keep running. Still seems like a fuel issue, but I thought I went over everything!!!

Ahh

Your problem is the feed hole for the main jet. When you take the hex piece that holds the bowl to the body, you will see that it contains part of the emulsion tube that feeds the main jet. There will be a very small hole in the side of this piece that feeds the main jet. If this hole is blocked or partially blocked, the main jet will not get any or enough fuel to keep the engine running. Look it over closely with a magnifying glass if necessary. Clean this hole with a fine wire and some carb cleaner spray, and it should solve the problem.

Thank you for the tip. I will disassemble this evening and check that. I am pretty sure I got all of those holes clean. I saw there were 2 holes on the side of the bowl screw (they passed through each other), and one in the top of the screw that went down to the passage of the other 2 holes. 3 holes total. Is this correct?

Yes, this should be correct. Make sure ALL of the holes are fully open by spraying through them with carb cleaner spray. Even a small restriction can affect the mixture and cause the fuel mixture to be too lean or too rich.

Keep in mind that the smaller the engine, the less fuel it needs. Some of the passages can get REALLY SMALL!!
