I have a Green Star riding lawn mower and can't find anything about it online. Please help. I have a picture but I'm not sure how to post on here. I have it on the lawnside classics Website.

Darren,
Have you looked carefully for an ID tag on the tractor itself? That might give you clue as to the true origin. Companies such as MTD, Gilson, Gibson, Noma etc all made lawn tractors for the "Private Brand" sector. As an example, a chain of hardware stores in three adjoining states could go to one of those companies and have a lawn tractor made with their company name on it and get it painted whatever colour they wanted.

The point is this. There is a vast difference between a company that manufactures tractors under their own name and some department store that decides to dabble in the LT market for one or two years. It may be that you have one of those "orphan" tractors made by one of the above mentioned companies for someone who wanted it called "Green Star".

Look under the seat for a silver tag with model and serial numbers.

Craftsman used Tecumseh engines. Ford and Jacobson used Kohler engines mostly. Ford also used Briggs engines.

It looks like a Briggs & Stratton engine. You can use that Code off the engine to find a year and parts for the engine.
Model xxxxxxx Type xxxx-xx Code YYxxxxxx YY being the year.

The transmissions are mostly Peerless for most light duty riders.

Sorry, I am taking wild guesses on who made it. Other posters will recognize the maker when they see it. My final guess is it was rebadged by Murray in the late 80s or early 90s. Higher than 8 hp engines didn't start getting used until late 90s.
