JD LX277 ran fine for several hours, including several stops and restarts. Shut it off to clean the deck, eat supper, etc., then it would crank, but not start. Had gas to the carburetor and ignition.
Worked on it yesterday. Found the intake valves very sticky and the pushrods jumped off the rockers. My theory is that the time I had it shut off was enough to stick the valves, and when I tried to start it is when the pushrods jumped. My guess about the sticking is from an older can of gas I had put in before I used it last time.
I cleaned the valves and guides with carb cleaner, lubed them, and put everything back together. Starts and runs Great! I put some cleaner in the gas and used it for at least an hour, no problems.
I will be more careful about what fuel I use.

Does that have one of those vertical v-twins? I had one that bent the rods all the time. Started adding ATF to the oil and it helped.
