John Deere L100

Connect a voltmeter to battery terminals, start eng and run at 3/4-full throttle, battery voltage should rise to 14-14.5 volts if charging system working.

If voltage doesn't rise, starting at eng & working into wiring harness check for a blown fuse in an inline holder or in fuse block(if tractor has)many mod briggs eng had a fuse on alt output which may be blown.

If you can't find fuse/any blown fuses, then goto local mower shop(s)briggs website or ebay & buy a service/repair manual that covers your mod eng,the eng in your tractor was avail with four different alt stators & two different style charging systems, the manual will help you id charging system & troubleshoot same, depending on charging system AC voltage from alt varies, you'll need manual for AC voltage spec to troubleshoot alt stator.

Before doing any of the above first check battery
with a hydrometer or remove & have load checked, you may just have a battery that has weak/bad cells & not takeing/holding a charge.
