Wellll..
I wanted to try something for over a year and finaly got around to it. Go on Fleabay and buy something. I wanted to try solid state {LED} bulbs in my lawn tractors just for giggles. MTD-Troy pony -Cub cadet 1330- John deere 160 ETC. They all take 1156 light bulbs. On flebay they have the replacement with 80 led elements on them. Kind of look like caremel apples with crushed peanuts. They cost around $3.50ea depending how you buy them. Put them in the 1330 last night. WOOOOW!!! BRIGHT white like day light and HALF again as bright as the old bulbs. They also don't get hot and melt the lens covers. They light up the whole front of my 1/2 acher yard. They are well worth the cost and I am very pleased. Check out a set of them. Jeffcat

Thanks for the info. I will have to keep that in mind. The lights on my Craftsman (21hp Briggs engine), look like someone strapped two lightning bugs to the hood. And of course if you slow the engine down they go out! I sure do miss the old Sears Suburbans that had the combination starter/generator. Those tractors had sealed beam headlights and put out enough current to power at least two more! I had one that I mounted a small sealed beam light on the rear fender and aimed it just in front of the mower deck so I could mow at night.

As I said these take next to nothing for power and the color is much more friendly to your eyes. Everything looks much sharper. I am thinking of getting the 1157 bulb type for my little tow behind trailer. These LED bulbs are NEAT! Jeffcat

I have 2 KC Daylighters on my Allis B-12 at about 100 watts each. Makes things nice and bright plowing snow in the mornings before work.
