Sears Suburban 12 value?

I have an option to buy an old Suburban 12. It has not run in 30 years. Stored inside a garage. The gas tank is empty and rusty. It comes with a harrow a snow plow and a mower deck. It is in okay condition except it does not run right now. What should I offer for it? Ballpark.

Hi I would say $150.00 while the harrow and blade are worth up to about $50.00 each, and engine that has not run for 30 yrs is pretty iffy, keep in mind if the engine(a Tecumseh HH120) has the solid state ignition (SSI) it may or may not not be working. If it produeces spark that's good if it doesn't that's not so good, they are trying to sell used SSI on e bay for anywhere from $150.00 to over $200.oo a new replacement HET module is about $150.00. Might also check to see if the trans shifter works sitting that long its possible the trans could be rusted.

I"d suggest welding the hood shut, and making a yard ornament out of it!
then, using the money you would spend fixing it up to a presentable condition, you could buy something nice and new. Then drive around showing it to your neighbors. That way--you"d have the best of 2 worlds! JMHO: Rusty Jones, The Mower Man.

Some people collect them and they do have value, especially the attachments.
The archives have info about fixing the electronic ignition, either with points or later electronic parts.

Thank you for your input. The shifter moves but I have not rolled it
yet. I am going to move it this week and I would rather move it once
to my house. I can fix just about anything and this thing has good
bones. I will look into the ignition. I had not thought of that part.
This helps.

Thank you I will look back at them. The ignition problem seems to keep coming up. I will have to see what I can find out about the one on the tractor if it works or not.

Hi, again, they are great tractors very strong and many many implements were made for them, I like them so well i have 3 a 66 Suburban 10 a 67 S12 and a 1972 S12 converted to a 16HP Tecumseh OH160. The really 10 & 12 hp engines had points (approx 65-67) a SSI engine can not be reverted to a points engine, there are a number of DIY electronic ignitions and one basically a plug and play system that being Dale Colvert's Overnight solutions system, I opted for Dale's system for the Tec OH160 it was as easy as installing the OEM SSI.

Thank you for this information. If I get the tractor I will invest in one
of these. This should make things a little better to test.
