I read another posting on problems with an Intek, and since I have over 600 hours on mine, I better start looking for a replacement engine. Would anyone know what would fit? What would you recommend? This is a vertical shaft engine
V twin.

The Briggs Intek engine, with proper care and maintenance, is a very good engine, and 600 hours for that engine is not a lot of hours, most Intek failures are due to using poor quality engine oil, cheap, aftermarket air filters, cheap aftermarket oil filters or just flat lack of or no maintenance. If it uses no oil, has good power and you have given it proper care and manintenance, you are worrying for nothing.

Yes, I have been using Mobil 10W30 pretty much since new, a new filter each oil change, but it does issue a puff of smoke on startup after sitting a while. I do use it year round for mowing and snow blowing.
