Simplicity Model V

Is the model V tractor set up so you can mow without tearing up grass.. Seems to be in posi-traction mode all the time.... I installed an Ariens single blade rotary mower deck under the front.. All works good except it's not grass friendly and is a bear to steer.. I hope I didn't screw up and select the wrong model.. Is there some way of "Unlocking the differential" ??I used to mow with a model W , maybe as a kid.. It steered like a regular differential..Thanks

The model V has a differential - sort of. The wheel hubs allow for turning by using a "catch paw" or clicker hub. This setup works well so I wonder if you have the hub rusted to the axle shaft or the paw itself is rusted - locking the tractor into posi-trac mode. Remove both hubs and make sure everything is moving freely and greased.
If my link works you can see what you need to be looking at when you get inside. Good luck and keep us posted!
