Had a guy bring me one today to fix. It is a Hydrostatic transmission and he says the pump is bad. He also included a used pump for me to install. I have the rear end and pump out as of right now. So is there any thing to look for and or be careful of when switching out the pump and all??
Thanks

The Sundstrand Hydro Pump that Cub Cadet used, rarely went bad. If you are going to swap this out, be sure to get a new gasket that goes between the hydro pump and housing.

If you ever take the pump completely apart......
The pistons are supposed to go back into the same
holes that they came out of ! If the pump is
really bad, pistons and bores will be scored or
burnt. If shiney clean, like a new shotgun bore,
they are ok.

Make sure you mark where the linkage assembly attaches to the pump. This will help you so when brake pedal is locked down, trans lever comes back to neutral and trans does not creep forward or backward. If it does creep-loosen the two 3/8 bolts and either slide assembly up or down to stop creeping issue.

Along with what the others said look over the trunnion assembly as it will cause problems similar to a weak pump. The trunnion is the two levers that stroke the pump. One that the lever moves, the other is the one that actually strokes the pump and they are separated by two springs that act as a shock absorber between the hand lever movement and stroking the pump. Pretty long winded to write up here but google "Cub cadet hydro trunnion repair" for much information. Very important part of hydro performance.
