The radiator has a crack about 4 inches long in the top tank. Don't know how that happened,old I guess. The question is can i buy just the top tank or will have to buy the whole radiator?

Most likely they want to sell the whole thing. Only your Deere dealer can tell you for sure.

I checked with the JD dealer,they only want 429.00$$ for a new one.I'll look around maybe i can find one a little cheaper.{Somewhere}

Maybe a radiator shop can repair it for you. I've seen them make top tank replacements.

a friend of mine has a 425 and had a radiator shop fix his tank for way less than buying a new one.
