I have a opportunity to buy a 1450 that the hydro quit on after it was pulled across the yard. What is likely wrong with it and the approximate cost to fix. Thanks...Darald

I"ve got a 1450 hydro Cub Cadet, that was towed
about 500 feet...still working on getting it
going..I"ll be watching for replies here, didn"t
expect any transmission troubles, as it was full
of oil, and in neutral.

If you are talking about a 1450 Cub Cadet it is probably the tow relief valves. Later ones like that are automatic, no lever to lift for towing. They are known for sticking and leaking. There is a guy on Ebay rebuilding valves. New ones are available but pricey. They are pretty easy to get at right on top of the hydro unit. Google cub cadet 1450 hydro relief valves for lots of information.

+1 more on check the release valves. I've seen the buttons on them stick down. If it was towed at walking speed, I doubt there is any damage. If they pulled it at 10mph for a mile or so the motor block comes unglued so to speak.

Could be internal damage to the pump. I have had 2 come in over the years with holes through pump case from towing. Used ones on Ebay all the time reasonabley priced. Should be less than $100 to fix and 2 to 3 hours to change pump and adjust.
