Kohler K-301 governor stud

The new governor gear seems to wobble excessively on the stud. Is the stud removable? If so what is the procedure? I can machine a replacement if I can remove the exist.
Thanks

I think it can be driven through the case into the tappet gallery. (An empty gallery: no valves,springs,etc.- you can take the cover off and see.) I am thinking I had one once that didn't stick out far enough to fully support the governor gear. and that is what I did.
I think the o.d. is straight knurled where it press fits in the case.

I forgot to add that I had to remove the block plug from the outside of the case to access the governor stud.

You can get them from about any auto parts store, but they may make you take a box of 10 to get the 1 you need.

You are soooo correct. I removed the tappet cover and there it was. I drove it into the crankcase. It was 3/8" dia and 13/16" lg. I chamfered the ends and drove it into place. The gear fits much better.
Thanks
