My daughter was mowing today and she said the mower quit, so I figured she just ran out of gas but it turns out the problem is much more serious. Any idea why the push rods bent?

Valves may have seized in the valve guides. Check valve guides to see if they have pushed up in the head towards the rocker arm. This problem has occurred in this model engine with others.

Yes it looks like the exhaust valve guide has worked out of the head, which explains the exhaust push rod, not sure yet why the intake also bent.

Had this problem with my "44xxx.." series engine, but only on the exhaust. Might be both guides moved?
