Neighbor has a Troy Built rider has always had trouble keeping the deck belt on. Last one was 80.00. Can get more info if needed. Does some of these mowers have issues? Thanks.
 
Sometimes I've had the pulleys aren't even, sometimes, when there on a shaft they move up or down, that makes the belt come off, make sure all the pulleys are fen, and none are higher or lower than the others.
 
Make sure all of the belt guards are on it. If some one took one off to change the belt or to remov34e the deck the belt will not stay on.
 
just found out this belt is 135" long, think is one reason it has a lot of room for error. long spans for no adjustment when belt gets stretched a little. no one keeps it in stock. Lowes is 108.00 plus shipping.
 
Well, first off check for online prices for the belt. I usually find Ebay to be the cheapest.

As far as the belt coming off, chances are there is an alignment issue, a bearing going bad or an idler spring not working right. Get a belt, put it in place and start looking for things that are loose that should be tight and tight things that should be loose. Then look for bent stuff that should be straight and so on.
 
Has the same problem with a Tru Valu Hardware

belt helped.
 
You say there is nothing to keep tension on belt. The belt your talking about is on the deck only and has a separate belt from engine to deck. Is there room to put a spring loaded idler arm with an idler pulley to put tension on belt.
 
1. Some Troybilts are not known for long belt life. (but you get what you paid for.)

2. Are you just throwing belts at it or are you making sure that there are no other problems such as rough bearings, rusty pulleys, misaligned belt guides that are contribuiting to the problem.
