Hi,
I have a model 86 Cub Cadet with newly rebuilt K181 Kohler that kicks back against the starter when it fires. This is not a compression release problem, it cranks fine until it fires and when it does it kicks back hard against the starter. Lacking a timing light where it is used I closed the point gap up to retard the timing and the problem did not change. Now have it at the shop and checked the timing and it is a few degrees late. Advancing it to the proper setting of course makes the problem worse. With the points set to only .010 the timing mark is at the top of the window when the points open or quite a bit late. It kicks back hard enough to stop the starter and after 3-4 times it will finaly go past TDC and run. Anyone care to throw some guesses at this??
Thanks in advance.
