John Deere 445 quits then starts

My dads 445 with 807 hours runs fine, then it will stop running. It will start right up and run for five minutes or for the rest of the mowing. Dealer mechanic says fuel pump, but at $475.00 just for the pump he would like to be sure. Thanks for any advice.

Do a goggle search for john deere 445+fuel pump,click on link to just an answer.com dated 11/9/09,read posting & replies,you might just have a hose in tank going bad between pump & outlet,possibly from age/ethanol content of gas or a dirty/plugged screen on pump intake.
