Briggs to Kohler

The old Briggs 11hp died and I replaced it with a Kohler 14hp. The Briggs had two terminals on the starter the Kohler has one. The Kohler has a fuel solenoid. Starter relay about the same. No lights or accessories. Unmarked three position key switch. How do I wire this thing? The wiring picture is no help because the Kohler has so much stuff that the simple Briggs did not have. I just want it to start and run.

I would sure help if you would tell us
1. what mower.
2. What model and spec of the Briggs engine.
3. What model and spec of the Kohler engine.

I am unfamiliar with a Briggs engine that has 2 terminals on the starter, unless its a Vanguard.

First mistake: Replacing Briggs engine with a Kohler! too many ways to make a mistake when trying to wire it up, to work! BT/DT!
I bought a nice Scotts Brand lawn tractor, that had set out in the weather for 3-4 years, not covered up with anything! A Kohler engine in it. bought it for $50, with grass catcher, snow plow--and a danged kohler in it! So far, i have spent more on parts, trying to make it run, than i paid for the whole machine! I used to have a nice head of gray hair, but it is gone now--mainly from pulling it out! The only thing i haven"t replaced is the spark control box, which costs around $100, or so i have been told, by my parts supplier! So--out comes the kohler, and in goes a nice B&S engine that i am familiar with. It will have my wiring harness to connect it up to the tractor. mean while--i will have a dandy boat anchor for sale-cheap!
But, i have been given a Troy-bilt tractor, several years old, that was caught in a flooded creek bed--with a dratted Kohler engine, which will be yanked out! BBBLLL: Rusty Jones

Surprise, surprise--the tractor that was in the flood---i installed a new battery, and it started and ran well! WOWEEE!
But, the deck belt is disintegrating, so i bought a new one. Not installed yet, as paying work has come in, with a Kohler engine in it! RATS! RJ
