have a wheelhorse 212-h shift is just below steering wheel you push down on it to shift into reverse or fordward if you put it in reverse it works good if you put it in forward it goes sounds a little rough but you have to hold it in is there a way to adjust it any help would be good thanks paul

Check your operators manual/parts list for shift linkage adjustments or look at parts list for same,if you don't have parts list get mod/sn off tractor id tag & goto link below & look up tractor in lawn/garden tractor listings & look at assembly drawing/parts list for hydro shifter control.

Due to fact tractor 22-23 yrs old you probably have wear/slop in linkages or worn cam plates,a good starting point would be try tighting nut(9)on cam with belville washers as this appears to be a friction adjust looking at drawing,if that doesn't help/cure check shift linkage for sloppy/worn parts.

Another thing you can do is check with a local toro dealer,he might give you some pointers on problem & cure as this may be a common problem on this mod tractor.
