782 steering

I don't know if it's just me or my CC 782 is hard to steer. What are some things I can do to make it steer eaiser. Thanks, Dave S

there should be a grease zerk on the bottom of the column. It usually never gets greased because it is really hard to get to.

Grease the front spindles. I have seen them almost frozen up because of no grease.

Since the 782 was built in the early '80s, it may be time for a Steering Column rebuild. The parts and bearings gets worn, coupled with old dried out grease.

Jack the front end up off the ground, take the steering rod off that comes from the steering box to the front end and try to turn the wheels. If they are hard to turn by hand the spindles are dried out and need cleaning and lubed. If they are easy to turn, try turning the steering wheel it may be time to look at the steering box.
