The power steering cylinder of my early JD 425 is leaking considerably at the shaft. Does anybody know if these cylinders are serviceable? The manual states that the lift cylinder is not serviceable but it doesn't say anything about the steering cylinder.

According to deere they are not serviceable. But most hydraulic shops can cut the cap off, rebuild cylinder and then weld back together. Have done a few my self. I use a lathe to cut cap off. Be shure to mark orientation of ends. Parts are usually about 10 bucks from our local hydraulic shop. It does take time though.
P.S. The same can be done for rockshaft ram.
