Will start fine several times in a row then nothing at all Can put battery charger on and starts right away for several times in a row
Battery test fine and is charging is fine

I would try another battery. Use a hydrometer and check each cell on the battery you're using. Should read around 1.280 and if one cell
is around 1.100 you need a new battery. Put the battery on a trickle charge overnight then use the hydrometer. Also clean all your battery connections until they're shiny. Hal

I had Craftsman garden tractor with a 24 hp. Kohler that did the same thing. I went through the starter switch, starter solenoid, starter, and battery and couldn't find any thing wrong. It ended up being a wire from starter switch to soleniod. The wire had a bad spot not visable from the outside it was broke inside the covering and would make contact at times and not at other times. Replaced wire and have had no problems after that.

Bad starter solenoid, the extra boost from the charger is just enough to get through the corrosion on the contacts. One other place to look is the back of the key switch, look for a loose terminal,(move it side to side)usually with a yellow wire to it.

The plunger on the solenoid is dragging so it won"t pull in far enough to engage the drive and close the switch. Take it apart and clean the core and the bore it slides in. It will work fine then.

Just exactly as Tim stated.I have installed 60+ of these.Even on other makes of equipment.IT WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.~JT
