Echo Trimmer

Working on an Echo GT-2000 string trimmer. Rebuilt carb last year and it was running great. This year no start, not firing at all. Cleaned up face of the magnets and coil and gapped at 0.007 inch with index card. Still no firing. Spark will jump 1/4 inch gap but is very weak and yellow compared to my new Stihl. Compression is 120 psi. Muffler screen is clean. Should I spend the $50+ for a new coil or spend it on a new trimmer?

I have several Echo and JD/Echo trimmers. The coils seem to go bad every now and then.

I just bought a Echo GT-2000 trimmer at an auction. It was supposed to not start. This dealer has reputation of telling customers that things are way worse than they really are to just make a new sale. The trimmer I have I just needed/wanted the plastic shield at the bottom.

I can check it out and maybe the coil is good. It would be later this week at the earliest I would get to it.

Email me if you are interested in the coil. I would not want much for it.
