Cub Cadet 1811 vs 1882

I have had a 1811 for about 6 years now, bought it used with 850 hrs on it. It has been good to me but seems to be a bit wore out. The deck seems a bit wobbly, it starts a bit tough as it misses on one cylinder for a while before it starts to fire, and the engine labors a bit when the 46" deck is running, (engine low on power?) it doesn't smoke but does burn some oil. Overall I've been happy but unsure how much longer its gonna go.

I have found a 1882 that I an considering to purchase. This mower looks similiar in many ways but has independant brakes, power steering and rear PTO. It also has about 800 hours on it, but looks good overall. The owner is asking $1000 with the 50" deck. Are there any concerns about a 1882? or specific areas that I should be looking at?

what do you think is a better machine, the 1811 or the 1882?

The 1882 is one of the Super Tractors CC sold, its heavier
and with the rear PTO you can do more with it than the 1811.Also
3pt is easy to add to those tractors. Not alot different from the 1811 but the power steering is nice on the 1882.I've owned a couple 1811 and now have a 1782 diesel and a 2182 3 cyl. gas same tractors as the 1882 except it has the Kohler twin cylinder.I much perfer the 82 series to run and operate.

I have both--I like the looks and metal hood/grille/side shields of the 1811 over the notorius cheap and fragile plastic counterparts of the 1882, but the power steering, tilt steering, slider seat are nicer to have on the 1882. Been trying to figure a way to put 1811 type hood & grille on the 1882..... I also have a 1914 which I really like. $1000 is good price if it's in nice shape.
