I have questions about my 1939 David Bradley walkbehind?

I have a 1939 David Bradley walk behind tractor that has been passed down to me for generations. All those who had it before me have passed on so I have no one ask. It has the steel cleat wheels (is this the correct term for this type?) I would like to restore it and had some questions. Where can one get the wide rubber belt? I think it is 2 or 3" wide and it would have the link where it can be taken on and off. Is there anyone who makes these? I am in search of 1 wheel weight here in Texas (hopefully one I can drive to. I bet shipping would be ridiculous) Also, the engine is a B&S about 10hp, rope pull. I have seen this engine in magazine ads dating it around 1950. I am pretty sure it is not the original motor. What kind of engine did they have originally? What color were they?

you can use a belt from a semi tractor engine to power it. I beleive the belt is 2x40". The orginal engine would have been a Z briggs. The colors were all red, but the wheels, they would have been green. Steel one would be correct, 22" rubber was the option, and is hard to find now. Wheel weights are not easy to find either.

Some where in the last few weeks was a guy from OK, who was selling a tractor with good 22" wheels and rubber, i"d check that out.

If, as you say, it is a "David Bradley" tractor, it is likely a much later model. However, since you state that it has steel wheels it sounds like you have a Sears "Handiman" walk behind tractor. I don't believe the David Bradley name was in use in 1939. Google David Bradley garden tractors and implements for some information. You can also Google Sears Handiman garden tractors for more info. Good luck.
