I just tore down a 430 diesel for overhaul and when I magnafluxed the head some cracks showed up in the what I'll call the energy cell. They don't go out to where the head gasket seals but they are headed that way.If it was my own tractor I wouldn't worry about them but it is for a customer.Should I be looking for a new head?I went to the JD web site and it doesn't look like the part that is cracked is available separately. Thanks:ep

It's a yanmar diesel right? Should be the same as our f935 diesel, check a yanmar dealer, since yanmar has there name on the bigger cub cadets check a cub cadet dealer to, I don't know if they got bought by cub cadet or not. I think the head would be okay, how many hours are on it.

Yes it is a yanmar it has 2000 hrs on it, parts are available at the jd dealer ,I checked before I got started.

Well I think the head will be okay, okay didnt know if John Deere would have them or not because I think yanmar was bought out, ours has 1800hrs, might be getting close to a overhaul to, don't know how long the usually run for. I like how they will blow black smoke. Hope you get her fixed and all works well.
