Lawn tractor--

I started up the GT2542 Cub Cadet to get the mail today.
I thought, I might as well see if the mower will work. I pulled the pto switch & all I got was a jerk & then silence from the mower deck.
The pto belt had jumped off of the rear driven pulley. I put it back on & it works fine.
What would make the belt do that? It is in good shape, only ran about 1/2 season last fall.

Was the deck up the whole way? Sometimes if I engage the deck when it"s all the way up, my belt will jump off. Not every time, just sometimes. The angle when the deck is up may be enough to throw the belt.

Belt rusted fast to the pulley. The pto engagement caused it to jump off.

I have a 2550 that will do that. Usually when its in a higher setting. But, if the belt is getting some wear or if the tightener is beginning to relax a bit, you might have it work its way off more easily. JMHO

Thanks for the replys. Actually, the deck was at the mowing level when I tried it.
As I said, it works fine now so I will leave well enough alone.
