My Troy-Bilt Model 12180 works finr going forward but locks up when I try to put it in reverse. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong.

Funny that is my zip code, the model number, if its like the older horse models, likely an issue with the fibrous disc which is driven when you push the lever, might be an adjustment or you need to replace it, you should be able to source one, I've seen them on Ebay, my horse would not move in reverse when I got it, was a low use, one owner 7HP Kohler, just needed an adjustment. I believe from memory its that nut on top of a stud, kind of hard to reach and easy to "bugger" up but once you get a tool on it, relatively easy to adjust.

I've never had a Bronco, but I've had a lot of Horse models and when you lift that lever that's used for engaging the wheels, Item 1919 (ref # 23)in this parts breakdown the disc should contact the pulley. This should cause your tiller to backup. The same gears are used when it moves forward. Hal
