Craftsamn Mower, (OLD)

Information request:, recently purchased an old Craftsman ride on tractor. Model # 602-602130, serial # 1243. It has been well used. I just want to restore and might put the mower deck back on , only for looks. Like to find the year. and go from there it presently does run, although it does not have the air breather and it is a 11 HP , B & S engine. It is hard to find reverse, the lever forshifting gears is located behind your heels when sitting on the seat. Thanks for any information, all appreciated. Thanks, Murray

There should be a number stamped on the shroud somewhere or a metal plate.

yy indicating the date the engine was manufactured. Take into account the engine might have sat in a warehouse and the mower might have sat around in a store before sold.

The eng was made in 83,the 502 prefix in tractor mod# means same was built by murray.

Hi Joe, thanks for the information. I just purchased the tractor last week for $75.00. For absolutely NO reason. Although I do presenly have in use a 1987 Sears tractor that was purchased new and has done a lot of work mowing lawns. This one I won't bother to use the mowing deck, just use for towing a trailer around the yard. Make some repairs and paint. Thanks , Murray
