I've been looking for a hydrostatic garden tractor and discussed on here. Today a 9020 Simplicity with a 20hp new this spring and a transaxle disassembled in a box was GIVEN me. What other tractors have the same transaxle? What is an affordable option to repair? I'd love to have/use it but don't want to raid the piggybank. HELP ME!!!!
 
The transaxle is in a box? Now you know why he GAVE it away! Unless you are quite experienced on those things, it'll never work. At best you will need a factory manual on the transaxle, and chances are several pieces are missing by now. I don't know how old this unit is but you may want to contact some repair shops. Sometimes a customer with a blown engine will just give the mower to the repair shop and they then sell off parts from it. Chances are this same unit will fit several models and makes, so you may stand a chance of finding a good used one. There is a large surplus place that from time to time has transaxles available. I can't remember the name, but I'm sure someone on here can supply it. And, good luck.
 
Simplicity made Allis Chalmers and some MF garden stuff. They probable didn't make the tranny. Research it and look listen and learn while poking around looking at Simplicity, AC & MF stuff. Could also try Joe's outdoor power up in Michigan, they might have it or could maybe tell you what it really is. I've dealt with them through Flea-Bay and they've always been fair with me.
 
Any day I get 4 free new tires and a new,not rebuilt 20 hp motor is a good day. Go whiz in somebody elses wheaties. FREE isn't hard for me to take.
 
For best results go to the Simpletractors web site. There are some knowledgeable guys there that have these tractors and can offer some good advice. You might also place an ad for the tranny. This tractor was built in the 70's under the Allis and Simplicity names. Guys who have them seem to love them. Would like to have one with a blower and cab on it. Cozy used to build the cab for them.
