Need used engine for cub cadet 125

I recently sold someone a nice 125, and a few weeks later the engine spun a rod. Anyone have one in MN or north east IA for a reasonable price?

Finding a GOOD one will cost you.

If it were me I'd buy a new rod - much cheaper than buying an engine. Or just overhaul the engine with new rod, piston and rings. The complete parts kit will only run $89 - including the seals and gaskets.

Those old Kohlers were good, one of the few engines I know of that can shuck a rod and be rebuilt. They are expensive, but last, 3000 plus hours is not uncommon. On today's new cheap riding lawn mowers if you take care of the engine it'll out live the tractor, the old Cub Cadets are opposite, take care of the motor and the tractor will still outlive the motor, hence many cubs are parked or scrapped when the motor dies, because you can buy a new box store motor for less than the rebuild. Rebuild it or go to small engine warehouse and they'll sell you a kit to swap a disposable aluminium engine in it.
