It has numbers 79? 706029 597966

Im needing to know how the flywheel goes back on. It isnt keyed on the shaft or the pulley. There both smooth, both on the shaft and on the bore. Its an 40s engine Im thinking.

Is the mod# of eng(1st two numbers)79 or possibly 19?

On the old briggs number series eng,on the mod 19 & 23 eng the flywheel key is a tab that bolts to face of flywheel to lock flywheel due to fact that flywheel timing is adjustable on these eng

Thanks Joe. I dont havr that tab. Ive got one stud and 3 holes on the outside of the flywheel face. Nothing on the stud.

also, it was too small a print and blury besides so I couldnt read it, just saw the pics. Thanks again.

After you goto link & download pic, move mouse pointer over pic/text,pointer will change to a magnifing glass with a + in center, click left mouse button, this will enlarge pic/text.

I'm thinking it may be the old model 19 (not 19D) with the Magnematic ignition system.

The magneto coil is under the flywheel, points & condenser are external on the side of the crankcase.

The arrow on the left leg of the armature is aligned with the engine model marked on the rotor (which is clamped onto the crankshaft.

When the two marks are aligned, the flywheel is installed with the starter pin (on the face of the flywheel) at the 10:30 o'clock position.

The ign could be either type,at one time I had two mod 19 eng,one had standard over the flywheel coil, other had magna-matic,due to fact he said crank smooth & he had 3 holes in flywheel & stud(roll pin)I would more suspect eng has over the flywheel coil as he's not giving out much info on ign system also magna-matic crank has a notch in it for a woodruff key to lock magnet rotor to crank.
